Joseph K. Hooten is the Chief Executive Officer of the Hall County YMCA in Gainesville, Georgia and Youth Minister at Trinity United Methodist Church in Clermont. Mike recently graduated from Springfield College with a Masters in Human Services. He comes with 15 years of professional YMCA experience.

Tamara has been an employee within the YMCA Movement for 15 years in California with the YMCA of Orange County. Tamara has lead parent/child, day camp, child care, teens and resident camp. Her final role in Orange County was the Associate Executive Director for the Saddleback Valley YMCA where she managed 13 licensed child care programs and 1 day camp. Her experience in California has prepared her for the exciting opportunities and adventures in Georgia and with the Hall County YMCA, Youth and Community Services Branch. Stephen J. Brown is a currently licensed Georgia CPA with over twenty five years of financial experience working with private, public and not for profit organizations in the metro Atlanta area. Stephen started with the Hall County YMCA in November 2005 after working 14+ years in the staffing service industry as Controller and Director. Larry is returning to Gainesville where he formally managed Cornerstone Christian Booksellers before becoming a CPA.

Sharon W. Korn is a "YMCA lifer." She has been with the YMCA movement for over 15 years starting her career in day camp with the YMCA of Honolulu. She served in her most recent position as Vice President of Child Care Services with the YMCA of Orange County, CA. Sharon has her degree in Family Resources from the University of Hawaii and a certificate in Child Development Administration from Vanguard University.

Senior Program Director

DD. Wright has been with the YMCA since August of 2006 and is the Senior Program Director with the Youth and Community Services Branch. JJ oversees the 21st Century Communty Learning Center funding, which provides free afterschool care for over 600 children each day. DD has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mercer University in Sociology and a second major in Program in Leadership & Community Service with a minor in education

Youth & Teen Coordinator


position: Youth & Teen Coordinator

Gary K. Smith began his first two years of work as an intern and then Projects Assistant. Recently Gary has accepted a position as the new Youth & Teen Coordinator for the JA Walters Family YMCA. Gary will work part-time while attending college scheduling various youth & teen activities. He is also a co-leader of the praise and worship band "Refuge", founder of Real Ministries, and a youth leader at Trinity United Methodist Church. Gary has a high passion for the music ministry and is currently in the process of recording a CD to share with friends and fellow christians.

Family Coordinator

Lauren T. Gumm has been a YMCA staff member since January 2005. She is a Gainesville native and a graduate of North Hall High School. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Lee University and is currently attending the Psychological Studies Institute to earn a Masters of Arts degree in Professional Counseling. At the YMCA, Lauren serves as the Family Coordinator where she serves as a leader and resource to families within the YMCA programs in coordination with schools and community groups.

Minnie T. Goodwin has been working for the Hall County YMCA for 2 years. She is a member of New Beginnings Out reach Church where she teaches youth and is the Director of Women. Minnie is currently the Executive Assistant for the YMCA's of Hall County. Minnie coordinates all Board and Volunteers, Capital and Annual Campaign information and is assigned special projects on an as needed basis.
